Losing is already punishing enough, you lose time and the hourglass. Loss in terms of time and fun should be minimal to keep the playerbase active.

Players should never be punished by intended play. There's really no point in keeping the player miserable. Imagine Starcraft or League of Legends match without an option to just say GG and surrender. Instead, he could just scuttle and look for another fun fight leaving you with a nice victory and a feeling of dominance. And all of that because sinking brings him to square one. He just swims around for half an hour using his last planks and saving his last 15 cannonballs waiting for some miracle situation. Not much is more disheartening than the battle that's prolonged endlessly just because the opponent lacks the supplies to engage. Streamers seem to agree on the fact that Season 8 is dying and the problem is the supplies e.g. More doesn't mean right about the principles but in practice Season 8 is dying. Like I said, a good ship can sink a ship with the default supplies given. But frankly, it isn't the supplies that change the tide, it how you use them. You magically keep the ship, why can't you keep the suppliesīecause Supplies change the course of battle. Only the sweaty PvP players who hate the "resupply"

We are at War between two hated factions, you win or lose. Maybe they lost because of lack of planks? More chainshots?Įnables players to surrender without worrying (instead of playing defensively until supplies are gone - which everyone hates) Losing still hurts and they see what they lacked. More "losing" players in queue which means more balanced player pool The winners also have a choice to make, if you had loot. Do better and don't waste money :p Being sunk has always been part of the mode. It should always be a punishment, but frankly it a lesson. You're not being punished for losing (being sunk is part of play mode now) You still be lower than when you had before, more than likely your gonna resupply. You can go into the next battle immediately Sure not the amount you may of had before but you do Have supplies and some people, that all they need to sink a ship. It's very easy for the player to understand and will make everyone happy.īut your ship respawns.and you DO have supplies. It's a simple change without much room for exploitation. you magically keep the ship, why can't you keep the supplies?.you can manage your supplies for the whole game session ("I'll leave those chainshots for the next match" - gives the player the agency).enables players to play more aggressively (more fun).enables players to surrender without worrying (instead of playing defensively until supplies are gone - which everyone hates).resupplying works the same for victorious and defeated (you have to resupply equally often).more "losing" players in queue which means more balanced player pool.you're not being punished for losing (being sunk is part of play mode now).you can go into the next battle immediately.

With keeping the supplies after you sink: The problem is you can't without supplies. And you're supposed to continue your play session. Now if you participate in PVP you sink statistically 50% of the time. Sinking meant starting from scratch because you failed in your journey, which HAPPENS.
